In the aftermath of the recent tornado damage across three Kentucky counties, including the cities of London and Somerset, the Attorney General’s Office is advising those impacted to be wary of potential scams.

Following natural disasters, consumers may need to make repairs to their property or homes, and bad actors often attempt to take advantage of these situations. Here are a few of the most common natural disaster scams:

  1. Construction and Repair Scams
  2. Price Gouging
  3. Charity Scams
  4. Advance Fee Loan Scams
  5. Impersonating Officials
  6. Identity Theft

Their Office of Consumer Protection has developed a brochure, ‘Protecting Kentuckians from Natural Disaster Scams’ outlining the top 6 natural disaster scams. English and Spanish versions are available below to share with your clients.
